I often tell newer players that fleets are not planetary protection. If anything, they encourage attack. I just completed an attack that was a perfect demonstration of how a fleet invites problems.

I found a target who, compared to the fleet I had on hand, had a fair amount of defense and a reasonably good size fleet. After running the sims, I saw that I could not defeat him but that I could attack him with with relatively small damage.

In the attack I lost one battelship and got no loot as the battle was a draw. The battelship costs 45K metal and 15K crystal. But I created and collected a debris field of 89K metal and 88K crystal. Big win.

And I never touched the resources on the planet. I would have gone back for them in a second attack but, unfortunately, I knocked him back into noob status and I can't attack him.

The point I want to make is that I attacked him only because he had such a large fleet sitting on his planet. Without the fleet, I would have needed to attack him multiple times before I could defeat him and get his resources.

This is why I tell people not to think of ships orbiting your planet not as protection, but as flying resources to be pillaged..

Though it is nice to fleet save, its more complicated then i think, I was one of a TARGET of a recent attack from a person =P and I send them on a 3 hour expedition i know it only takes 5 hours but if i attack someone A: provokes hostility and a grudge B: possible loss of fleet, then agian having a fleet at your planet does make you a target and it makes people more likely to pillage your planet also >.< so how do we properly fleet save find a noob and rampage on him with our fleet because I dont think you can attack someone in noob status if you are not correct? so what to do can you possibly transfer your fleet to another planet maybe idk? send me a reply im really looking forward on grasping fleet saving to the max if i can because having my fleet there was a biggggg mistake>.<

The best way to fleet save is sending your ships on a deploy mission to another planet you own, especially since all your planets are in G1, due to the fact that a player with a moon can use a sensor phalanx on your planet and see when your fleet lands and hit you seconds after it does (here is a good example of it: ninja), but a sensor phalanx cannot see recalled deploy missions.

While most of the time you don't need to recall it, it gives you the ability to avoid being hit if someone attacks that planet..and ALWAYS be online before your fleet lands.
